The Ministries of Our Church
Our youth ministry provides support and encouragement for young people at what can be a most critical part of their Christian experience. Creating an environment where young people are safe to share and explore their faith, ask questions and openly express their challenges is one of the main goals of this ministry.
“And Jesus called a little child unto Him, and set him in the midst of them, and said verily I say unto you, except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 18: 2, 3). The Adventist Youth Society (AYS) is the action and fellowship organization for our youth. The youth leadership and young people work together in the development of a strong youth ministry which includes spiritual, mental, and physical development, social interaction, and an active witnessing program which supports the general discipleship plans of the church. It is the goal of the AYS leadership to involve the youth in meaningful activities which will tie them closer to our Lord, to family, to the church and to provide leadership training that will prepare them for Christian service. Regular meetings of AYS are held each Sabbath afternoon 90 minutes before sunset. The programs include family presentations, health emphasis, Bible competitions, musical presentations, socials, an annual Youth Week of Prayer, the annual conference-sponsored Olympic competitions, picnics in the park, and other regular outings.
